HC Deb 09 December 1946 vol 431 cc177-8W
Mr. Erroll

asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps he is taking to secure the retention in this country of all domestically manufactured glue, in view of the shortages of this material which are at present restricting production in the motor-manufacturing, abrasives and other industries.

Sir S. Cripps

Since 1st June last, export licences for glue have been granted only to the minimum extent necessary to maintain contact with important overseas

tained in the original demobilisation book. The applicant completes the form, showing cause of loss, and signs a declaration that he holds a Service release certificate, dated on or after 18th June, 1945. This certificate must be produced before a responsible person, who then attests the declaration as having inspected it. The form is then handed to the area office of the Assistance Board, who have instructions to issue spare vouchers only in cases of burglary or fire. I am having the position carefully watched, but any relaxation of the present procedure might well introduce abuse.
