HC Deb 09 December 1946 vol 431 c165W
Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware of the anxiety of British egg producers that the development of the egg producing industry of this country is increasingly being sacrificed to the interests of the foreign egg producer; and what steps he proposes to take during 1947 to ensure that British egg producers provide a greater proportion of the egg consumption of this country.

Mr. T. Williams

The development of egg production in this country depends almost entirely on future supplies of feedingstuffs, on which I fear I can say nothing at the moment. As the hon. Member is aware, guaranteed prices and a secure market for British egg producers are a part of the Government's agricultural policy which will be embodied in the Agriculture Bill shortly to be laid before Parliament.
