Mr. Gallacherasked the Minister of Fuel and Power if his attention has been drawn to the fact that, as a consequence of disposing of the redd from opencast coal workings at Balgonie on to the old bing, fires have been started which are causing the utmost annoyance to the 131W people of Balgonie; and what steps he is taking to overcome this nuisance.
§ Mr. ShinwellThis refuse bing has been continuously sprayed with water for about three weeks, and I am advised that the fires are now almost completely extinguished. When the bing is sufficiently coo] precautions will be taken to prevent a recurrence of the fires.
