§ 113. Mr. Stephenasked the Minister without Portfolio if he will consult with the Service Ministers so as to arrange, as far as possible, consistent with the needs of the Services, that Scottish Servicemen will get their leave at the end of the month, so as to allow them to be at home with their families at the New Year instead of Christmas, in view of the Scottish holiday period being the former, instead of the latter.
§ Mr. AlexanderI have made inquiries and I understand that it is not the usual practice to issue special instructions on the subject of New Year leave for Scottish Servicemen since it is universally recognised that they should be treated at the New Year, as far as possible, in the same way as other Servicemen at Christmas. I have no evidence to suggest that this arrangement does not work quite satisfactorily.
