HC Deb 04 December 1946 vol 431 cc97-8W
Mr. Emrys Roberts

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty how many establishments are now occupied by his Department in the county of Merioneth; the location and area of each establishment and whether it is owned, requisitioned or held for the exercise of training rights; and what the intentions of his Department are with regard to each area.

Mr. Dugdale

The only establishment now occupied by the Admiralty in the county of Merioneth is the Royal Marine Establishment in Gibraltar Camp at Llanegryn, which consists of a requisitioned house and a camp built on requisitioned land approximately 60 acres in extent. The Cader Idris training area, approximately 12,000 acres in extent, which is subject to an order under Defence Regulation 52, is used by the Royal Marines who are accommodated in the camp. It is intended that the Royal Marines shall vacate the camp and give up the training area as soon as alternative accommodation with a suitable training area can be found elsewhere.
