HC Deb 04 December 1946 vol 431 c89W
Mr. C. Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps are being taken by the Government of the Seychelles to encourage development of a tourist trade.

Mr. Creech Jones

A special Committee was appointed by the Governor of the Seychelles in 1944 to draw up plans for developing the tourist trade after the war. I understand that one of the results is that negotiations are now in progress with a view to the provision of suitable hotel accommodation for visitors. Both the Governor and myself are anxious to encourage tourist traffic to the Colony.
