§ Mr. C. Smithasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps are being taken by the Government of the Seychelles to encourage development of a tourist trade.
Mr. Creech JonesA special Committee was appointed by the Governor of the Seychelles in 1944 to draw up plans for developing the tourist trade after the war. I understand that one of the results is that negotiations are now in progress with a view to the provision of suitable hotel accommodation for visitors. Both the Governor and myself are anxious to encourage tourist traffic to the Colony.
