§ 118. Mr. Walker-Smithasked the Minister of Town and Country Planning whether, in view of the volume of evidence given at the Stevenage inquiry against the proposal to set up a new town, he is prepared to publish reasons for his decision
§ Mr. SilkinThe letter which was sent on 8th November from my Department to the local authorities concerned and to all 55W who had given notice of their objection to the proposal, made clear why I considered that the objections raised at the public local Inquiry at Stevenage disclosed no sufficient ground for abandoning the proposal to develop a new town there—a project which I am satisfied is expedient in the national interest. A copy of this letter was made available to the Press. I am sending the hon. Member a copy.
