HC Deb 02 December 1946 vol 431 c4W
34. Mr. Jennings

asked the Minister of Food why biscuits are being permitted to be imported from Europe, thereby causing unemployment among biscuit-factory employees in this country and at the same time taking out of Europe biscuits needed there.

Mr. Strachey

The biscuits will be imported to eat. If we could get the raw materials and make the biscuits here we should, of course, do so.
