HC Deb 02 December 1946 vol 431 c2W
24. Sir G. Fox

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that the Coalville Cooperative Society allow miners to take home biscuits and cakes from the canteens without presenting bread rationing coupons; and what steps he will take to ensure the enforcement of food orders against cooperative societies.

Mr. Strachey

I am satisfied that the Coalville Cooperative Society does its best to ensure that rationed foods sold for consumption on canteen premises and therefore free of coupons are consumed there and not taken away. Cooperative Societies are treated no differently from other traders in respect of Ministry of Food Orders.
