Glynasked the Secretary of State for Air whether he will now make a statement in regard to the future of airfields forming a group in Berkshire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire; how many of these are to be retained on a care and maintenance basis; how many will be needed for operational purposes; and how many will be redundant.
§ Mr. P. Noel-BakerFinal decisions about these airfields have not yet been taken. The best forecast which can be made at present is that 32 of them will probably be used for flying, 22 by the Royal Air Force and 10 by other Government Departments; of the 32 one will be on a care and maintenance basis for some time. Three others will probably be required by other Departments, but not for flying. 26 will probably be redundant.
