HC Deb 02 December 1946 vol 431 cc9-10W
78. Mr. Digby

asked the Minister of Supply whether he will make a statement on the circumstances in which a R.A.F. fighter aircraft passed over the town of Lyme Regis firing its guns and scattering shell-cases and clips on the town; and what steps he is taking to prevent a repetition of this occurrence.

Mr. Wilmot

Owing to an error of judgment as to his position, the pilot of a Meteor aircraft engaged on firing trials fired his guns over Lyme Regis instead of over the sea. I regret that some empty cartridge cases and links fell on the town and broke a few slates on four houses
