HL Deb 01 August 1946 vol 142 c1238WA
LORD LINDSAY OF BIRKER

asked His Majesty's Government if they are aware that Kuomintang gendarmerie recently arrested Mr. S. K. Lee, in the Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong, and what steps they are taking to prevent a repetition of such incidents.

VISCOUNT ADDISON

It is understood that Major-General S. K. Yee (to whom it is assumed that the noble Lord refers) has now returned to Hong Kong. In the time available before the Recess of Parliament it has not been possible to obtain fuller information. If the noble Lord desires further information and would be so good as to put the question down again after the Recess, this information should then be available.

House adjourned at fifteen minutes past four o'clock to Tuesday, 8th October next.
