§ 124. Mr. C. S. Taylorasked the Secretary of State for War whether he will consult with the local planning authorities before buildings, erected by his Department during the war, are offered for sale to landowner and others, in view of the fact that many of these buildings do not conform to town planning and building bye-law requirements of local authorities.
§ Mr. Lawson:The hon. Member is no doubt aware of the provisions of the recent Building Restrictions (Wartime Contraventions) Act which provide for the sanctioning in proper cases of continuance of buildings which do not comply with planning control and building laws. The War Office consults the Regional Planning authority before disposal of huts to the owners of requisitioned land. In other suitable cases the purchaser is advised to clear the position on the buildings he intends to purchase.
