§ 92. Fliģht-Lieutenant Parkinasked the Secretary of State for War if he will restore to other ranks who volunteered tinder a Regular engagement the right to purchase release at any time after they would have been released in Class A had they been conscripts, thus giving them the same opportunities as those who, on being granted temporary commissions, were discharged from their Regular engagements and are obtaining release in Class A.
§ Mr. Lawson:No, Sir. A man on a Regular engagement has contracted of his own free will to undertake a certain period of military service. There is no reason why he should not be held to fulfil this contract, if the Army requires his services, and in present conditions the Army cannot afford the loss of Regular soldiers which the reintroduction of discharge by purchase would involve.
