HC Deb 09 April 1946 vol 421 cc281-2W
63. Major McCallum

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is now in a position to supply additional information regarding the financial results of the use for grazing purposes of land at Torosay, Argyllshire, which was requisitioned under Defence Regulation 51.

Mr. Westwood:

Yes, Sir. I much regret that the figure of £3,517 given in my reply of 5th February last to the hon. and gallant Members for East Renfrewshire (Major Lloyd) and Salisbury (Major J. Morrison), as the accumulated profit on the working of this land was incorrect. After the trading account was made up a bill for payment of about £2,000 was received, and although the account was thereafter adjusted, the necessary alteration was, owing to an oversight, not made in the record provided for me for the purpose of answering the Questions put to me in the House. 'The correct figure was £1,484, and I am anxious that the correction should be put on record in the OFFICIAL REPORT. I may add that a loss of £786 was incurred in the year to 30th November. 1945, and at that date the accumulated profit was accordingly reduced to £698.
