HC Deb 04 April 1946 vol 421 c219W
12. Lieut.-Colonel Hare

asked the Minister of Health if he will ensure that every village without a resident doctor should have a visiting doctor who would hold a surgery once a week.

Mr. Bevan:

A special fund is available from which assistance may be given to insurance doctors practising in isolated rural areas for such objects as the hon. and gallant Member has in mind. I have, however, no power of direction in this matter, nor would it in any event be practicable to make such arrangements covering every village.
