§ Fliģht-Lieutenant Haireasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether the age plus service release scheme applies to those airmen who come directly under the command of the director of the Meteorological Office at his Department; and if he will make a statement on his further policy with regard to employment of meteorological assistant for the R. A. F.
§ Mr. Strachey:The age plus service release scheme applies to airmen employed on meteorological duties in the Royal Air Force. These airmen are under the command of Air Officers Commanding-in-Chief in the same way as all other airmen, but their postings, promotion and technical duties are normally determined by the Director of the Meteorological Office. Every effort is being made to provide civilian meteorological assistants to facilitate the further release of airmen engaged on meteorological duties.
