asked the Minister of Agriculture the present position of the production of maps by the Ordnance Survey and, especially, of the geological survey maps; and what will be the standard 2-inch or 6-inch map that will contain information of such services as the transmission lines for electric power, water, gas mains and other public services.

Mr. T. Williams:

The Ordnance Survey is engaged upon a comprehensive scheme of map production based on a re-survey of Great Britain. Meanwhile, reprints of existing maps and, where possible, provisional editions incorporating a certain amount of revision are being published as rapidly as possible on the ¼in.,1in.,2½in., 6in. and 25in. scales. The production of geological survey maps has been seriously curtailed owing to the destruction of material during the war, but production of new maps and certain reprints is now in hand.
