asked the Minister of Labour how many insured persons in Glasgow were registered as unemployed on the latest available date; and how many of them belonged to the three categories of engineering, shipbuilding and ship repairing and building, respectively.

Mr. Isaacs:

At 11th February, the latest date for which figures are at present available, there were 20,899 unemployed insured persons, suitable for ordinary employment, on the registers of employment exchanges in Glasgow. Of this total 3,338 were classified as belonging to the engineering industry, 1,724 to the motor vehicle, cycle and aircraft industry, 1,451 to shipbuilding and ship repairing, and 418 to the building industry.
