HC Deb 02 April 1946 vol 421 cc189-90W
Mr. Walker-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware that the postwar fire service for the urban district of Hoddesdon contemplates category E fire risk arrange- ments only; and whether he is satisfied that such arrangements are sufficient for the population involved.

Mr. Ede:

The arrangements which are being made for this district are in conformity with the general standards applicable to comparable districts in other parts of the country. I am satisfied that, taking into account on the one hand the risks involved and on the other the cost of providing additional protection, these arrangements are adequate.
