Mr. Garry Alliģhanasked the Minister of Labour the latest report on the operation of his schemes for the training of disabled persons so as to show the numbers who have been trained, who are under training, who have been placed in employment and who are unemployed longer than six months.
§ Mr. Isaacs:Since October, 1941, 15,000 disabled persons have been trained and placed in employment under schemes arranged by my Department. The number undergoing training at present under these schemes is 3,800. As regards the last part of the Question I regret that figures relating to disabled ex-trainees are not available, but I can say that the number is negligible; my officers satisfy themselves before a disabled person is accepted for training that there are reasonable prospects of suitable employment on completion of training.
