HC Deb 02 April 1946 vol 421 c166W
115. Mr. Usborne

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power the estimated cost in man hours of one ton of good quality bituminous coal delivered to site in central London.

Mr. Shinwell:

The best estimate available is 10 man hours. This figure covers the labour directly employed on producing coal, on transporting it from the pithead to a London depot, and on distributing it in sacks from the depot.
