HC Deb 02 April 1946 vol 421 c183W
Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is able to make any further statement on his plats for district and regional agricultural committees, in particular if it is his intention that a substantial proportion of the regional committees shall be made up of representatives of district committees, so as to ensure close and continuous contact between the two bodies and the maintenance of the farmers confidence in regional committees.

Mr. Westwood:

I am unable as yet to announce the precise organisation which will replace the existing Agricultural Executive Committees, but the Joint Parliamentary Under-Secretary dealing with agriculture will be discussing the matter with the representatives of the industry during the next fortnight, and I hope to be in a position to make a statement soon after these meetings have been concluded.
