HC Deb 30 October 1945 vol 415 cc391-2W
Sir W. Wakefield

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation what foreign air lines are now providing air services to the United Kingdom.

Mr. Ivor Thomas

Regular civilian air transport services to the United Kingdom are now being operated from Belgium by S.A.B.E.N.A. (Société Anonyme Belge ďExploitation de la Navigation Aérienne), from Sweden by A.B.A. (Aktiebolaget Aero Transport) and from Switzerland by Swissair. In addition the British Overseas Airways Corporation has at its disposal aeroplanes and civil air crews chartered from K.L.M. (Koninklijke Lucht-vaart Maatschappij Voor Nederland en Colonien) to operate a service from Lisbon to the United Kingdom. There are also services of a military character to the United Kingdom operated by the military organisations of the United States of America, France, Norway and Denmark.
