§ Mr. TomlinsonThe number of closed brickworks is 753; when working to full capacity they would employ 20,000 persons. Stocks of bricks held by brickmakers total 1,100,000,000. Provided always that the necessary labour is forthcoming, I do not anticipate a shortage of bricks for housing or other essential purposes.
