§ Mr. Langasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department the number of Borstal boys proposed to be accommodated at Dartmoor convict prison; and what factors are taken into account when allocating the particular boys for transfer.
§ Mr. EdeThe answer to the first part of the Question is about 250. As regards the second part of the Question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave on 11th October to a Question by 2323W the Senior Member for the English Universities (Miss Rathbone).
§ Mr. S. Shephardasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if in view of the fact that Dartmoor prison is to be used as a Borstal establishment, he will consider changing the name and thus dissociate it from the past.
§ Mr. EdeI am, of course, in full sympathy with the object which the hon. Member has in mind, and I am considering his suggestion whether a change of name would be effective for this purpose.
