§ Viscount Hinchingbrookeasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has any statement to make on the threat of two Maltese parties to boycott the election.
§ Mr. George HallI have received with regret reports that two of the parties in Malta may boycott the forthcoming elections to the Council of Government. I cannot regard such an attitude as helpful or in the best interests of Malta, particularly in view of the forthcoming discussions in connection with the restoration of responsible government; and earnestly hope that these parties may see fit to reconsider their position.
