§ Mr. Hoggasked the Minister of Labour why the estimated number of operatives in the building trade for 10th May, 1946, is 50,000 less than was anticipated by the then Minister of Works on 23rd March, 1945.
§ Mr. IsaacsThe figure of 800,000 given by the former Minister of Works in the Debate on 23rd March related to the total number of insured men aged 16 and under 65 expected to be employed in the building industry at the end of June, 1946, and this figure included administrative and clerical workers as well as operatives. The figure of 750,000 given by me on 9th October relates to 10th May, 1946, and excludes administrative and clerical workers.
