§ Commander Marsdenasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department in how many exceptional special cases British nationality has been granted during the last five years; and if he will set out in detail the grounds which warranted such action.
§ Mr. EdeDuring the last five years exceptions from the general policy have been made in 70 cases on the ground that there were special reasons in the national interest for the immediate conferment of British nationality. It would be contrary to well established practice to detail the reasons in any particular case why naturalisation is granted or refused.
