HC Deb 15 October 1945 vol 414 c747W
Mr. Touche

asked the Minister of War Transport whether it is proposed to use the liners "Queen Mary" and "Queen Elizabeth" for the return of British forces awaiting demobilisation.

Mr. Barnes

I would refer the hon. Member to the statement I made in the House on Friday, 12th October, in which I said that the "Queen Elizabeth" and the "Aquitania" were to be used to carry British troops, and that the "Queen Mary" is to remain at the disposal of the American authorities for the present. At the same time, the Americans are giving us some smaller vessels which will render us equivalent service.
