HC Deb 09 October 1945 vol 414 c52W
Major Boyd-Carpenter

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will reconsider the decision not to pay to the representatives of deceased members of the Army the amount which would have been due to them had they survived, in respect of terminal leave and civilian clothing grant?

Mr. Lawson

I see no ground for altering the decision already given in this case. The primary object of granting terminal leave and civilian clothing is to assist resettlement in civil life and this does not apply when the soldier is no longer living.
