HC Deb 09 October 1945 vol 414 cc78-9W
Mr. Butcher

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will give an assurance that agricultural workers receive the same allowance of coal as coalminers.

Mr. Shinwell

I cannot advise that agricultural workers should receive the same allowance of coal as coalminers. The hon. Member will be aware that by no means all miners receive a free allowance of coal.

Mr. Butcher

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he proposes to grant a higher allowance of solid fuel to inhabitants of rural districts, who have no electricity or gas supply, than is granted to town dwellers, enjoying both these services.

Mr. Shinwell

As announced from time to time in Ministry of Fuel advertisements, additional supplies may be granted under licence by local fuel overseers to those premises entirely dependent on solid fuel.
