HC Deb 09 October 1945 vol 414 c110W
Major Macpherson

asked the Under-secretary of State for Air if he will issue a general instruction that sympathetic consideration be given to all applications for compassionate posting to R.A.F. stations in the vicinity of airmen's homes, where the reason given is that the airman's wife is an expectant mother or that his parents require his help on account of old age or infirmity.

Mr. Strachey

Compassionate postings are granted on medical evidence that an airman's presence with his wife or parents is essential. Each case receives careful consideration, and it would not be practicable to issue a new general instruction.
