HC Deb 09 October 1945 vol 414 c94W
Mr. Sparks

asked the Minister of Labour whether it is the policy of his Ministry to continue joint production committees in factories owned and controlled by the Government; and whether any steps are being taken to encourage private firms to set up similar committees in their establishments.

Mr. Isaacs

It is my policy to encourage the widest measure of co-operation between employers and workpeople, but the establishment or continuance of Joint Production Committees or similar bodies for that purpose are matters for the employers and workers concerned, on whose mutual desire and good will they finally rest. Thus, the continuance of such committees in Government industrial establishments is a matter for the employing Department and the trade unions concerned in the particular establishment. I know of no proposal for the discontinuance of the existing Joint Production Committees or similar bodies in Government industrial establishments.
