HC Deb 09 October 1945 vol 414 c80W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Minister of Health when he proposes to relieve local authorities of the custody of Government equipment such as blankets, clothing, etc., issued free on loan for A.R.P. rest centre purposes and make them available to communities badly in need of them and relieve storage for other purposes.

Mr. Bevan

Plans for the disposal of the Government surplus stores in question were laid down on the principles of the White Paper, Cmd. 6539. The process of withdrawal of surplus stocks from holding local authorities has proved difficult owing to the scarcity of depot facilities, and the procedure is being urgently re-examined.
