§ Sir R. Glynasked the Minister of Works the total cost of rendering Government offices at Storey's Gate bomb-proof; whether it is intended to retain these works; and what would be the cost of their removal and the restoration of the building to its original form.
§ Mr. TomlinsonIt is assumed that the Question refers to Government offices, Westminster, Southern Block, in the occupation of several Government Departments. The works, which were carried out over a period of years, included other services, but it is estimated that the expenditure applicable to protective works was about £775,000. It is doubtful whether the removal of these works would be practicable or economic and, in any event, it could not be contemplated at the present time.
