HC Deb 09 October 1945 vol 414 cc66-7W
Mr. Bossom

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is satisfied that the number of architects and surveyors being released from war-time duties will, in addition to those who are now available, be sufficient to enable the Government's announced housing programme and other essential construction work required during the first two post-war years to be completed.

Mr. Isaacs

The number of architects and surveyors being released from the Forces in Class B is the maximum number consistent with the main principle of release by age and length of service, and with the need for releasing in this Class qualified men in other professions and trades. In addition to releases in Class B, there will no doubt be additional releases in Class A as a result of the recently announced acceleration of the rate of release from the Forces.
