The total of salaries given above include fees to part-time teachers and domestic staff paid by the hour and not included in the number of employees given in the preceding column. They also include marriage allowances and local allowances awarded to London-appointed staff in order to compensate for high costs of living abroad. The following list shows those foreign countries in which the British Council at present have no staff of their own but to which they supply material for distribution through other channels:
