Dr. Jegerasked the Minister of National Insurance if he is aware that an advertisement for staff for his new Ministry appeared on 5th November in the "Newcastle Journal"; and whether he will give an assurance that no temporary civil servants will be engaged for the new Ministry for work which could normally be done by the staffs of approved societies.
§ Mr. J. GriffithsThe answer to the first part of the Question is in the affirmative. The staff referred to by my hon. Friend is required immediately for the administration of the Family Allowances scheme. Its engagement will in no way interfere with the opportunities of employment to be given later to staffs of approved societies, as to which I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given today to the hon. Member for Normanton (Mr. T. Smith).
