§ Mr. Shinwellimports vary from month to month according to the shipping programme. During the three months period August-October authorised shipments totalled just over 12,000 tons, or rather less than the current rate of consumption.
§ Mr. Turner-Samuelsasked the Minister of Fuel and Power the quantity of petrol imported from the sterling area for the months of August, September and October 1945, respectively; and how much of this was allocated to commercial needs, basic petrol rations and military needs, respectively.
§ Mr. ShinwellFrom estimates which are available to my Department it can be reckoned that about 90,000 tons of motor spirit reached this country from British-controlled sources during the months of August, September and October. Imports of motor spirit are not allocated according to the source of supply and in any event the quantity I have mentioned is not sufficient for any one of the three categories of needs to which my hon. Friend refers.
