Mr. Lindsayasked the Minister of Education whether she is aware that in the 2502W area of London, N.8, a child aged five was recently refused admission to school owing to the lack of school-places and teachers; whether these circumstances obtain in other places; and what action it is proposed to take.
§ Miss WilkinsonI assume that the hon. Member is referring to a recent case in Hornsey where some 10 children who reached the age of five in July last could not be admitted to school owing to the temporary impossibility of obtaining a teacher in response to advertisements. Steps are being taken to fill the post by re-advertisement as soon as possible. I am not aware of similar circumstances elsewhere.
