§ Mr. Naylorasked the Minister of Fuel and Power if his attention has been drawn to the excessive electric lighting in London amusement saloons at all hours of the day and evening; and if he will impose more effective restrictions on the present use of electric illumination.
§ Mr. ShinwellSpecial attention has been paid by the officers of my Department to 2513W the lighting used in amusement saloons, and where the circumstances warrant it, suitable steps are taken to secure compliance with the law. The whole question of electric lighting restriction is engaging my careful attention, and I shall not hesitate to ask for further statutory powers if necessary. I prefer, however, to rely as far as I can upon the voluntary co-operation of the public, and particularly of the trading community, and in general I am receiving that co-operation.
