§ Mr. Dribergasked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he will reconsider the decision not to grant gratuities to the men employed by his Department for a number of years during the war, for periods of duty of 168 hours each fortnight, in the secret and dangerous work of manning Luftwaffe decoy targets in the Essex marshes.
Mr. AlexanderApart from members of the Forces, war gratuities are payable only to those members of the Civil Defence Services whose remuneration throughout the war has been aligned to Service rates of pay. These men were paid at civilian rates, and they are not, therefore, entitled to war gratuities.
