§ Colonel Thornton-Kemsleyasked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he will arrange for vessels owned by his Department which are suitable for fishing and which are surplus to his Department's requirements to be sent to large and small ports around the coast of Britain so that deep-sea and inshore fishermen may be given an opportunity of seeing the kind of craft which they may be able to acquire.
Mr. AlexanderOwing to the wide distribution of the Admiralty owned vessels of fishing types, I think most fishermen will be generally acquainted with their characteristics. Whenever any are offered for sale all reasonable facilities for inspection will be afforded to potential buyers. Limitations of manpower preclude me, however, from giving any undertaking that particular vessels will be placed on show in any particular port, or that, after ceasing Naval service, vessels of fishing types will be sent on tour round the fishing ports.
