HC Deb 14 November 1945 vol 415 c2279W
Sir J. Lucas

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if civilian internees who elect to remain in Singapore or Malaya to try and re-establish their businesses are entitled to free medical attention in the same way that they would have been had they been repatriated.

Mr. George Hall

The responsibility for the welfare of civilian internees who have elected to remain in Malaya for their own private purposes rests with the British Military Administration. I have no doubt that any person in need of it will receive such medical attention as is available. I have no information whether such attention will be provided free of charge, but I am making inquiries.
