HC Deb 12 November 1945 vol 415 c1879W
Mr. Dryden Brook

asked the Minister of Works if, in view of the urgency of concentrating all available labour on the building of houses, it is his intention to allow an industrial concern, of which be has been given particulars, which is at present in occupation of modem well-equipped factories, to build an entirely new factory within the next two years.

Mr. Wilson

Housing is not, of course, the sole building priority, and provision has to be made, among other things, for capacity to produce essential goods for home consumption and for the export market. I am not at present able to forecast a date when the particular project my hon. Friend has in mind could be allowed to start; a decision would have to be taken in the light of all the circumstances at the time.
