§ Sir G. Foxasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the £12 10s. allowance for civilian clothing which is given to women on leaving the fighting services is wholly inadequate to enable them to re-equip themselves for 1602W civil life; that it is much less value than the free clothing allowance issued to male members of the fighting Forces; and whether he will call for an early review of this arrangement.
§ Mr. LawsonThe allowance is based on the provision of an outfit corresponding in scale and standard tothat provided in kind for men. It is therefore regarded as adequate for the purpose for which it is given, and equitable when compared with the provision for men. In isolated cases, when it is necessary to give male members of the fighting services a cash allowance in lieu of an outfit in kind, they also receive £12 10s.
