§ Sir W. Wakefieldasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will constantly keep the Purchase Tax on motor-cars under review, with a view to removing it when factory output for export exceeds demand, to prevent unemployment in the industry and to encourage maximum volume of output in order to lower prices for export. 748W holders of special certificates obtained up to the end of 1945 may continue to serve on all British merchant ships until 31st December, 1946. The issue of special certificates is a normal peace time arrangement which is being continued.
