§ Viscount Hinchingbrookeasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is now in a position to state whether compensation will be paid to Channel Islanders whose furniture has been confiscated by the Germans or by local authorities during the occupation.
§ Sir D. SomervellThe question of compensation for loss of, or damage to, property and chattels as a direct result of the German occupation is being considered, but the Islands administrations, with whom the matter will require careful consultation, are engaged on the immediate tasks of rehabilitation, and I am not yet in a position to make a statement.
