§ Mr. Burkeasked the Minister of Aircraft Production to what use he proposes to put the Magnesium Elektron factory near Burnley, which cost over £4,000,000 and 1671W which has been idle for many months; if any of the plant and fittings have been disposed of and, if so, under what terms.
§ Mr. E. BrownThis factory was built and equipped for the special purpose of producing magnesium, and although it is not now being used for that purpose, I cannot say that it will not be so used again. Even if it were for disposal it would not, owing to its special construction and the heavy plant which it contains, be readily made available for other forms of production. None of the plant and fittings has been disposed of. Steps have been taken to use for storage purposes a considerable area of the more open parts of the factory which it is practicable so to use.
